Senior Projectmanager BU Onshore Wind

 Project Manager BU Onshore Wind

Due to our growing project pipeline in the Swedish onshore wind power market we are looking for  a Senior Project Manager to strengthen our Construction Management Team. Do you want to help us build our next onshore wind energy projects? This is a great opportunity to have a very direct contribution to Vattenfall’s purpose of enabling fossil free living within one generation. In addition you’ll become part of an engaging team of motivated and competent people and have plenty of opportunity to challenge and develop yourself. Information about the Project Delivery department and BU Onshore WindAs a Project Manager (PM) you’ll be part of the Construction Management team within Project Delivery (PD), which is the department responsible for the construction of Vattenfall’s onshore wind farms. The Construction Management team houses all the project management functions that take the lead on our projects in the pre-construction and construction phase as Project Director, Project Manager, Construction Manager or Package Manager. We are a diverse team for example in terms of age, experience level, gender and personality types, and are proud of having an open culture where there is a lot of space for autonomy and authentic human connection. Our PD team members are located across Sweden, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands and the UK and work on projects across those 5 countries. So a lot of work is carried out over MS Teams (especially during the pandemic). However, when possible we try to work together from our main Vattenfall offices and construction sites to be able to build well-connected teams that perform.Business Unit Onshore Wind develops, builds and in most cases also operates Vattenfall’s onshore wind farms (in our current strategy some projects are being divested once they have been commissioned). By the end of 2022, in the last 5 years our BU will have installed and commissioned 378 wind turbines, totalling 1.435GW of installed capacity and with many more projects coming up in our pipeline.

Information about the roleDeveloping and constructing an onshore windfarm is a very complex process, and is managed by a multidisciplinary team of people through several project phases and involves multiple technical components and a M€ budget. Leading all these resources in a complex context effectively is crucial to ensuring that each wind energy project is constructed within agreed budget, timeline and safety and quality parameters. In addition to the Project Manager role on a construction project you will also become part of our Project Delivery and BU Onshore Wind team. In this context we foresee an additional responsibility to help develop a stronger BU Onshore culture in the Stockholm office, and to be a liaison and ambassador towards the rest of the PD organization and Management Team.   As a Senior Project Manager you would be responsible for the following: (*The extent of responsibility would always be matched to your experience and seniority level)

  • Priority setting and having clearly communicated and shared project goals
  • Decision taking within your mandate; decisive yet inclusive, using the internal and external specialists in your team to their full potential
  • Ensuring an adequate project organization is in place, with the right competences and experience level on board, clear roles and responsibilities and by applying the available (governance) processes and tools
  • Depending on the phase of the project, aligning with other internal departments like Procurement, M&A, Market& Site Development or Operations to create the right boundary conditions for the project to be successful
  • Liaising with external and local stakeholders, and if applicable an (investment) partner as well
  • Reporting monthly to higher management (and project partners if applicable) based on deviations and changes

Who are we looking for?

Particularly for this role we are searching for someone who enjoys being visible to the rest of the organization, proactively shares their successes and learnings (open) and who enjoys educating and coaching others.Due to our current project pipeline in Sweden we are looking for people who are based in (or close to) Sweden and willing to spend around 50% of their time at our Stockholm Vattenfall HQ and/or their construction project site. To be able to engage with all the different project stakeholders and connect with the entire project team, a good command (both speaking and writing) of the Swedish and English language is required for this role. Some international travel is anticipated and encouraged to other construction sites and/or other offices in our different countries to build relationships.
