Expert in Thermal Hydraulics
Are you an expert in Thermal Hydraulics within the nuclear fuel field and are looking for an new challenge?
The department Nuclear Design and Analysis is now looking for a new colleague to our competent team at our office in Solna.
The department’s competence areas are reactor physics, thermal hydraulics and safety analysis. The main tasks of the department are nuclear design optimization for the fuel to be delivered to the Vattenfall’s nuclear power plants Ringhals and Forsmark. We also perform core design optimization and safety analysis for the coming operating cycle outages at the power plants, licensing analyses review and technical evaluation of new types of nuclear fuel. The department also provides analyses within its competence areas for Svensk Kärnbränslehantering.
To perform these tasks, the department uses advanced computer codes such as POLCA, SIMULATE, SIMULATE-3K, BISON and TRACE to simulate both steady-state and transient conditions in the core. Assignments are performed individually or as a part of larger projects where several technical disciplines cooperate.
Your main responsibilities
• Modeling and simulation of nuclear fuel thermal-hydraulic behavior
• Development of calculation methods and models
• Assessment of the nuclear fuel thermal-hydraulic performance
• Safety evaluation of fuel and core design for Forsmark’s reactors
• Expert support to the team and the power plants
The work includes close contacts with our colleagues in Forsmark and Ringhals and with our suppliers of nuclear fuel and computer software. Together with the power plants and suppliers, we continuously work to improve our work processes and products.
• University degree, equivalent to a Master’s degree or similar
• Previous working experience within thermal hydraulics in the nuclear fuel field, preferably for boiling water reactors
• PhD within thermal hydraulics is a merit
• You can express yourself orally and in writing in both Swedish and English
