Researcher in Industrial User Experience
You will be part of CRC, Corporate Research, in Västerås. We are a global organization delivering innovative solutions for all ABB units. Our research projects typically develop proof of concept solutions with the latest technology. Within these projects we have a close dialogue with our business units as well as end customers to identify tomorrow’s market needs. To fulfill these needs, we monitor, identify and make use of the latest technologies, when we shape ideas and provide new innovative solutions.
The challenge: Would you like to manage a tight team working at the forefront of new technology? Are you intrigued by the opportunity to invent software solutions with excellent user experience? As Researcher at CRC, you will be part of a growing team, where you work together with projects of various size and settings. In this position, you will analyze the business area and identify the best opportunities to make impact by user experience. In other words, you secure the human aspects of technology. You will also analyze and make assertions about technological directions to determine their consequences in customer impact and to deliver solutions for future products. You will work closely with business managers, analysts, and developers to capture their needs and implement your ideas.
The requirements: You hold a PhD and have experience from research in User Experience, Cognitive Science, Experimental Psychology, Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction or equivalent working experience. You must be a skilled English speaking communicator with the ability to collaborate with customers as well as with business analysts and developers. To be successful in this position, you need a broad IT/SW background and extensive knowledge in user experience methods and standards. It is qualifying with experience from postdoctoral research and/or industrial experience in SW development, ideally within complex products and safety-critical applications. Broad knowledge and experience in concept design and rapid prototyping, usability and human factors testing would also be beneficial to your success in this position. It is crucial that you have the ability to acquire knowledge of new technology and application domains. It is an advantage if you have worked as project manager.
