Job description:     We are looking for a Global Category Manager to manage and create a competitive supplier base for hydraulics category of benefit to Metso Mining and Construction Technology global locations.

In  executing  tasks  below  the  Global  Category  Manager  works  in  a  very  close  operation  with  different  teams  within  Metso  MCT  organization.  Key  counter  parts  are  Manufacturing,  Service,  Logistics,  Legal,  R&D  and  Product  Management  and  Engineering  functions.

The  key  responsibilities  of  this  role  include:

• defining  category  strategy,  priorities,  time  schedules  and  action  plans  together  with  Category  team  members
• aligning  of  sourcing  strategy  with  overall  business  strategy
• anaging of the existing supplier base
• building  needed  supplier  base  to  guarantee  availability  in  order  to  support  rapid  profitable  growth
• defining  and  monitoring  realistic  but  aggressive  long  term  cost  saving  targets  for  the  category
• harmonization  and  development  of  the  procurement  processes,  tools  and  policies  within  the  category
• leading  and  assigning  both  global  and  regional  contract  responsibilities  within  the  category  in  alignment  with  the  general  vendor  ownership  principles
• resolution  of  issues  and  escalation  route  for  unresolved  issues  within  the  category
• contribution  to  Metso  MCT:s  overall  sourcing  strategy  and  process  development  through  one's  own  active  participation
• line  management  of  existing  dotted  line  Local  category  persons  team  and  further  organizational  development.

The  position  requires  travelling  due  to  overseas  partners,  suppliers  and  manufacturing  locations.

Requirements:    
To  be  successful  in  this  position  you  need  to  have  good experience of hydraulic components and systems and at  least  4-6  years  of  hands-on  experience  in  similar  sourcing  roles  preferably  in  an  international  environment.  You  have  suitable  education,  probably  technical  or  commercial  university  degree  in  engineering  but  other  degrees  with  extensive  relevant  work  experience  are  also  possible.

Your personal characteristics include strong communication and intercultural negotiation skills. You have co-operative attitude and genuine drive and desire to make success within Metso. Fluent English, both written and oral, is essential.
